400 watts divided by 24 in which they use 28 volts because thats what it charges to is 14 amps. These 24 Volt models are 14 amps not 27 or 28 amps. The 12 volt ones are 27 to 28 amps.

So many LEDs are low watt. I think it has to do with the heat that the hotter ones make. But since this is on for only 3-10- minutes, they found a way to make it bright.

Very happy with it.

Quality of the light is inferior. Suddenly stopped working after 6 months and seller was not able to help when contacted. Money wasted. Not recommended.

I left my boyfriend, cat, fish and apartment in West Hollywood to spontaneously run away from the noise pollution here and visit a long-time friend in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. After I arrived my friend and her husband presented me with a book they recently had read: Lynne Farr's "Off the Grid Without a Paddle." I immediately bought my own copy not only because I strongly believe in supporting other authors, but because the book was a page-turner and sheer delight. Lynne, who also escaped L.A. for Hawaii (but for good and wrote about it) got it right--she truly understood what I was going through. "Off the Grid Without a Paddle" flows with heartwarming hilarity and is a great read for everyone who has ever lived in the city, lived in the countryside, vacationed in Hawaii or dreamed of an existence where the "grass is greener" (as well as everyone in between!). If you've ever had a frustrated move, Lynne's got a chapter for you; if you've ever been plagued with annoying noise, Lynne's also got a chapter for you; and if you want to be touched and encouraged by another's dealings with financial fear and complexity-of-life stress-situations than, boy does Lynne have more than one chapter for you! As I left the Big Island to return home from vacation, stranded at the airport for nine hours because my flight had a hydraulic brake problem, I completed Lynne's book. It more than anything helped me arrive home sane thinking that we all can get through anything with a good sense of humor, a good book, and, if you're lucky, someone who loves you on the other side. I strongly recommend "Off the Grid Without a Paddle."

This light is good compared to many so called solar security lights. Most of them are only bright enough to actually help a burglar see what they are trying to do better, but not bright enough to alert you to the fact you are being burgled. This one is brighter than most, but still quite dim compared to any conventional security light.

However, the place where this device really falls down is that you cannot direct the light anywhere but straight ahead. It has some stupid chunk of plastic just below the light that prevents you from directing the light straight down. The piece of plastic is inexplicable. No functional reason for it to be there, but it completely renders the device useless for me because I wanted to direct it straight down over a garage person door so I know when some one is at the door trying to jimmy the lock.

The light unit is also made of quite cheap and breakable plastic.

Basically its still just a science fair project quality design. Neato, but not very functional.

Light aluminates the side of our house very well. It was very easy to install. The solar power feature works well. Being able to set when light will comes on and for how long are nice features.

A delightful story, well-told. Anyone who has packed up and started life over in another place, built a home, grown a garden or wrestled with a generator when the power is down will laugh out loud. And you may shed a tear as this tender little book helps you appreciate the true meanings of "I love you" and "home." The pages turn effortlessly as Lynne describes her transitions, both physical and spiritual, from hard-core city-dweller to a rain forest pioneer. Read it with joy.

What a pleasant surprise! A friend loaned us this book. My wife read it first, and I was reluctant because I've done the off-the-gird thing for many years and have probably heard every imaginable story on the subject. But my wife persisted, telling me to at least give it a try.

From the first page, I was hooked! Lynne Farr is such an awesome writer that she could made a good read out of a tax return! Usually, I speed read through these kinds of stories, just going for context. This one I read word for word, and some words more than once, just because of the enticing, melodic rhythm of Lynne's writing.

And as a bonus, the story is a delight! As a writer myself, I always appreciate good writing, and this one definitely qualifies. Highly recommended, even if you have little interest in "living off the grid." There's so much more to it than that!

Aloha!

This warm and witty memoir is written by former TV writer-producer Lynne Farr (The Bob Newhart Show, The Love Boat), who traded the Hollywood "glitz 'n grind" lifestyle for - first - the gritty downtown LA art scene and - eventually - a "Less-is-More" existence off the grid on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Sort of a modern-day "The Egg and I", "Off the Grid Without a Paddle" can be read (depending on one's predilections) as either a how-to guide for getting away from it all, or a dryly humorous cautionary tale. Either way, it's a funny, breezy read and highly recommended.

If you need a bright light you do not buy LED fixtures. If something on the order of a bright flashlight is all you need, this light works fine. Light is bluish like most LEDs fixtures. Has worked great in the two weeks I've had it. I like the fact that it uses a standard battery that you can buy from a variety of sources for $12-$15. For those users who say it's stopped working, did you replace the battery--sometimes batteries are faulty and have short life spans.
