The US uses 3.3 terriwatts of power. How many terriwatts of power could I buy for $819 billlion?

    I agree to some extent.

The thing that annoys me about people complaining that “wind turbines are not bird-friendly” is that people have finally come up with a MUCH more environment-friendly energy source than coal or nuclear power, and the only thing the green movement comes up with is “birds might get killed”, instead of appreciating the advance in technology and the will to inhibit the climate change.

Agreed. Lets think… couldn’t we just put a bunch of them somewhere where there really aren’t a lot of birds??

I am talking about 360000 years. This is a really very very very long time. In such a timespan knowledge can get lost, civilizations can disappear, new ones can arise. It is naive to think it will be safe.

You could make magnets that could spin it real good with out the wind so you can just get the motor and build the rest your self use strong ones and alot on the side to give it good speed on the spin and you’ll have energy running till you want it to stop, so I would just buy the electric generating motor which would be cheaper

This seems to really have potential, but we need to concentrate on all types of new ideas for alternative energy to really take hold!. I recently discovered a company called Energetics Technologies. They have a process called SuperWaveFusion, which could be a possible breatkhrough in cold fusion.

How much energy does one of these produce?

What if one side of that was like red and the other was green…think of the cool effect….LOL

You mean this “climate change” that is occurring, right? Climate change is not the only reason we need to go alternative.

Did anyone hear Obama say that we have more people working on the processes of Wind Energy than Coal. What a great feat, I love have more employees working on something that provides .005% of the energy. That’s American efficiency. Thank you Barry.

About 20 years ago I can across this same configuration in a book where a DIYer used a barrell split in two and offset on and axis. The helix is the next step-up. Nice going! Went to website and couldn’t find pricing. That is what is comes down to for me. Does it make money sense?

It looks a bit like the Savonius-type… But still a bit different

I really hope Obama is serious about getting alternative energy sources up and running all over America : )

No more then any other pres. b/s claims. He has little to do with progress. He’s just a man. There’s alot of branches to government he’d have to shove around.

Now wrap a flexible solar panel around it, stick it in a river, and you’ll be 100% energy independent…

Man you think politicians are that logical if they did what you suggest it would be far to transparent they need to muddy the waters so no one sees just exactly where the money is going and it isnt going to you or me.

For the bird issue: Darwin said it best when he came up with the theory of natural selection. If birds are stupid enough to fly into it, then good, it just means there will be more smart birds.

For the Nuclear Issue: Canada buries stuff deep in the Canadian Shield where even if it contaminated anything there’s miles of bedrock.

For the actual turbine: This is one of the most efficient designs available. In areas with turbulence you can’t put normal wind turbines, you can put this anywhere.

Doesn’t make any difference how well it works, will the helix wind turbine be affordable for the ordinary person? How will the ordinary person have it installed, will you help will with more than just selling them? Are you really serious about putting the Helix out there to help people?

I read this 5kw system cost $15k. Doing simple math for a ROI looks like this.

    8.5 m/s wind resource produces 6,300 kWh / year = 6.3 mWh

    6.3 mWh x $120 mWh = $756.00

$15,000 รท $756 = 19.84 years before you see a return on your investment. Add interest on top of the principle and it could take 60 years before you see a profit.

There are only a few areas in the country with 8.5 m/s wind resources at ground level.

I suggest you pass on this system.

    It does looks pretty though.
