my first attempt at my home wind turbine

April 11th, 2009

how cheap can you build a home wind turbine from ebay.co.uk dont put them near trees as this creates turbulence and get it as high as you can for extra power

that’s very awesome. I wish I had to brains to do one of these. You could probably make some money writing a book on ‘how to’ for this.

    Thanks for the comment
My turbine is not in the sky at the present but will be back up real soon once a few mods are finished and there should be a vid showing the erecting of the tower and turbine with the help of many friends.
Keep an eye on my site for new vids.

Nice job mate better than paying £850 for similar, on f/energy pmg watch out for moisture& rust getting behind black prop boss, bearing starts squeeking then goes lazy =no power (id on mine), not sealed properly either end unfortunately

First congrats on makeing the world a little greener, your windturbine works well,it looks as tho you have alot of wind there,im in canada and not alot of wind id say average 5m/s altho we get some nice gusts,im doing my home work first before i install a few windturbines i find them very interesting,i been checking out sites, videos, makeing notes,i think 3 turbines and 2 solar panels and id be off grid.I think 2 would heat my home[in floor electic],another and 2solar/wood stove would do it,ideas?

Is it possible to mount several wind turbine a a roof? and how far apart do they have to be?

    Does anybody know?

as long as the blades don’t touch the number is limited to the cost involved in getting the turbines

One is a good starting place but measure the average wind speed first over a long time to see if its viable.

Nice! Suggestion… Snatch a heater element out of an old dishwasher or stove and make a DC oven… ? Maybe I will… maybe I will ;o)

the distance rule is if one tower were to fail and fall it nor its mill blades should be able to hit any part of the nearest tower, guy wires or turbine and cause it to fail also, but as you can see from my vids we dont always stick to the rules

    It will not be cheaper…………………I

Their going to try to raise taxes on gasoline and coal fired power plants…..

And then we will kick them out in 4 years !!!!!!

also you need to experiment with vertical axis wind turbine designs as they are less affected by turbulence

That might be able to recharge my AA batteries… I prefer nuclear power, huge energy, low costs, and renewable
