Having a residential wind turbine system is an excellent way to save on your electric bill, conserve energy and have a limitless source of virtually free alternative power for your home. Researchers are just now beginning to understand the power of wind and how best to harness it. The more we discover about it the more limitless the possibilities seem. There will always be wind in some form or another. It only makes sense that we learn all we can about how to utilize it for ourselves and the betterment of mankind.

Having a wind turbine system connected to your home provides an energy source that is converted into electricity that you can use in your home. A lot like solar power, a wind turbine system teams with your utility company to provide your home with the necessary electricity it needs. Should the wind velocity go below about 7mph, the turbine system does not produce power. In this event, the power you need is provided by your utility company. As the wind picks up to above 7mph, the system begins producing power for your home and the amount of energy you get from the utility company decreases. If your turbine system provides more power than you need for your home, that extra energy is sold back to the utility. This is all automatic and does not require batteries of any sort.

Residential wind turbines can be large. There is a turbine mounted on top of a tall pole. Residential wind turbines are not recommended for more urban areas. At least an acre is a good size of land for a viable system. The system can be installed anywhere, but it will be most cost effective in areas where there is more sustainable wind. Since wind is free, it means that that cost to produce wind energy is stable. Wind is also constant. You do not have to rely on sunny days, as you would with solar panels and your system can even produce electricity for your home at night, if the wind is blowing.

These systems are environmentally friendly. Wind turbines produce no pollutants. They are not noisy. The noise levels produced from a system is roughly compared to being a little less than that of an average appliance, like a washing machine. Since you are consuming less power from the utility company, you are also helping to reduce the pollutants that the utility company puts out. So, when you decide to install a wind turbine system, you are, actually, reducing the air pollutants and greenhouse gasses from your utility company.
